Ford Ranger Wins ‘Auto Bild All-Wheel Drive Car of the Year’ Six Times in a Row

May 19, 2025

COLOGNE, German - Ford Ranger has again taken the top spot in the ‘Auto Bild All-Wheel Drive Car of the Year’ poll, winning the pick-up category for the sixth time in a row.

It’s the 9th time Ranger has driven off with this award, and, with 34.5 per cent in Auto Bild’s latest readers' poll, it was by far the dominant vehicle in its category.

"We are always delighted to be honoured by the profound readership of Auto Bild Allrad. Even though we are slowly getting used to winning with the Ford Ranger," says Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

"This winning streak underpins its status as the most popular pick-up in Germany and Europe. With the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid, we are now electrifying our successful model and are very confident that we will continue to win prizes in the future - after all, there is still enough room for more trophies on the loading area."

As well at topping Auto Bild’s readers’ poll, Ford Ranger also sits comfortably ahead of its rivals in terms of European sales statistics. Ford Pro registered 60,400 new registrations across Europe last year. This makes the Ranger Europe's best-selling pick-up for the tenth year in a row.

In Germany, it also leads the market by a clear margin. In 2024, the Ranger achieved the highest market share for pick-ups since 1990, when Ford began recording the data, at 53.7 per cent. And this year, too, it achieved a segment share of 60.8 per cent in the first quarter.

The latest member of the Ranger family – Ranger PHEV – is Europe's first pick-up with an innovative plug-in hybrid drive. With up to 697 Newton metres, the Ranger PHEV delivers the highest torque of all Ranger series models.

In addition, it enables a purely electric range of up to 50 kilometres. The Ranger PHEV will be launched in the second half of this year. Ford Pro will then offer at least one electrified model in each of its five model series.
