Global Caring Month: Turning Passion into Progress Across the Globe

Sep 01, 2026

For over a century, Ford has stood shoulder to shoulder with communities in good times and bad. That commitment is rooted in our values as a family company and carried forward daily by our employees and Ford dealers worldwide.

Each September during Global Caring Month, that dedication comes to life across the globe through the Ford Volunteer Corps, the company-wide volunteer program Bill Ford started over 20 years ago. From Detroit to Mexico City, Chennai to São Paulo, thousands of Ford employees put on signature blue Ford Volunteer Corps shirts to pitch in where neighbors need help most — mentoring students, packing meals, and building emergency relief kits to keep communities prepared and resilient.

What sets Global Caring Month apart at Ford is that it is entirely employee-led. Across more than 30 countries, Ford employees can apply for Ford Philanthropy grants to champion grassroots volunteer projects right where they live and work. When our people show up with purpose, they turn personal passion into lasting progress — helping build stronger, more resilient communities.

Activating Ford Building Together this Global Caring Month

Those communities are made even stronger locally through the actions of our dealers worldwide. Food security is fundamental to thriving communities, yet millions of families around the world face daily barriers to basic nutrition. That is why our global Ford dealer network is also stepping up in a substantial way this September.

Through our Global Dealer Food Drive, thousands of Ford dealerships are collecting non-perishable provisions to restock frontline pantries and relief agencies across five continents. Last year’s drive generated over 1.7 million pounds of goods — providing 1.4 million meals and marking the largest automotive dealer food drive on record.

Behind those numbers is what matters most: expanding dependable food access, easing the operational strain on community hunger-relief organizations, and ensuring families have consistent nourishment. Ford dealers are deeply woven into their hometowns, showing up not merely as businesses, but as dedicated neighbors invested in lifting others up.

This effort sits at the heart of Ford Building Together, uniting our philanthropic investments, employee volunteers, and dealer partners behind a single goal: building stronger, more resilient communities.

Here's how you can join us

  • Find a Global Caring Month volunteer project. Start with the Volunteer Corps Hub.
    • If The Hub is live in your country, log in, browse the options, and sign up for a Global Caring Month project in September.
    • If The Hub isn't live yet, contact your local volunteer champion for your JotForm registration link. Not sure who your champion is? Email volunteer@ford.com and they'll connect you.
  • Drop off food at a participating Ford dealership. All September, you can take part by dropping off non-perishable food items at participating Ford Dealerships and encourage your neighbors to do the same. Find your nearest collection site on From The Road.
  • Join us at World Headquarters on September 15. We're hosting an employee food drive at WHQ. Stop by the American Road Lobby anytime between 7:00 a.m. and noon EDT to drop off non-perishable items.

Global Caring Month demonstrates what is possible when a company aligns its people, partners, and resources behind a shared purpose.

Whether you lead a service project or donate essentials locally, you are helping build stronger, more resilient communities.
