Ford Vietnam Technicians Put Their Skills to the Test to Elevate Customer Service

Sep 22, 2026

Fifty-three of the country’s top Ford technicians came together in Hai Phong to demonstrate their expertise, exchange knowledge and prepare for the next level of regional competition.

Ford Vietnam hosted its 2026 National Technician Skills Competition on the 19th and 20th of September at the newly inaugurated Northern Regional Training Center, located at the Ford plant in Hai Phong.

The competition brought together 53 outstanding technicians from Ford dealerships across Vietnam. More than a contest, the event was part of Ford Vietnam’s ongoing effort to strengthen technical capabilities, maintain consistent service standards and deliver better experiences to customers throughout the dealer network.

Turning Knowledge into Real-World Solutions

This year’s competition focused on the upgraded Ford Ranger and Ford Everest, two strategic products launched earlier in 2026.

Contestants completed both theoretical and practical assessments covering general technical knowledge, advanced diagnostics, maintenance and repair procedures. The exercises were designed around realistic workshop scenarios, requiring technicians to identify root causes, resolve faults and complete repairs according to Ford’s technical standards.

These are capabilities that directly affect customer experience. Accurate diagnostics and standardized repair processes help dealers complete work correctly the first time, reduce repeat repairs and return vehicles to customers more efficiently.

“At Ford, developing technicians is a continuous journey,” said Saurabh Arya, Director, Training Strategy and Technical Support, Ford IMG. “As products and technologies continue to evolve, we need a team with up-to-date knowledge, accurate diagnostic skills and the capability to meet Ford’s technical standards. That is why training, assessment and knowledge sharing remain at the heart of Ford IMG’s capability development strategy.”

The first-place technician is set to represent Ford Vietnam at the IMG Regional Technician Skills Competition in Thailand in November. The regional event will provide an opportunity to compete alongside technicians from other IMG markets, exchange expertise and demonstrate the strength of Vietnam’s technical talent.

Investing in People for the Future

The competition was held at Ford Vietnam’s Northern Regional Training Center, which opened in August 2026. The approximately 1,000-square-meter facility includes dedicated theory and hands-on training areas, with integrated tools and equipment that allow training and assessments to closely reflect technicians’ daily working environment.

Ford Vietnam aims to have 83% of its technicians certified under Ford’s global Level 1–3 skills standards by the end of 2026. The proportion of Level 3 technicians is also expected to increase from 11% in 2025 to 13% in 2026, strengthening the network’s ability to handle increasingly complex technical requirements.

This investment becomes even more important as Ford Vietnam’s service network expands from 56 locations at the end of 2025 to 62 during 2026.

Ford Vietnam is also helping develop the next generation of automotive talent through its AutoTech scholarship program. Each year, 80 outstanding automotive engineering students receive scholarships and opportunities to intern at Ford dealerships, where they gain practical experience and learn about Ford’s operating processes and service standards.

From supporting students at the beginning of their careers to helping experienced technicians compete at the regional level, Ford Vietnam continues to invest in the people behind every customer journey.
