Celebrating the Women Driving Ford Forward - Sherazaad Kramer

Aug 11, 2026

Every August, South Africa observes Women's Month, a moment to pause, honour and celebrate the strength, resilience and contribution of women in every walk of life. As we continue this annual Women's Month series, now in its fourth year, we're once again turning the spotlight on the extraordinary women of Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa who help shape our culture, drive our business and build our future.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing stories of women who lead with purpose, challenge the status quo and inspire those around them, from trailblazers driving meaningful change to those making a difference in ways big and small every day. Each story is a reflection of the values, determination and drive that keep our business moving forward.

We're excited to open this year's series with Sherazaad Kramer, HR Business Partner at the Silverton Assembly Plant.

Who is Sherazaad Kramer? Tell us more about yourself.

I am a driven and compassionate woman who leads with her heart. As a wife, mother, and HR professional, caring for and supporting others is at the centre of who I am. I am passionate about helping people, while continually striving to become the best version of myself. I value kindness, integrity, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around me.

What book are you currently reading or podcast that you are listening to?

I'm currently deep into a podcast called “I've Had It” with Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan, total brain candy, super light and fun, exactly the vibe I need. As for books... let's just say my “reading list” is more of a “shelf styling” situation. I own a few, but they're basically just decor at this point 🤭.

Who is your favourite childhood cartoon character and why?

Donkey from Shrek is honestly a character I've always related to, carefree, chatty, and just bursting with energy.

What's something about your family or home life that your Ford colleagues might not know about you?

I recently started gardening, and I have found it to be incredibly therapeutic. I am a very new “plant mom” to carrots, thyme, and lettuce although, if I am honest, they are still finding their feet!

How has becoming a parent to your two-year-old son changed your perspective, both personally and professionally?

Becoming a parent to my two-year-old son has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. He has taught me patience, perspective, and the importance of being fully present. Personally, he reminds me to appreciate the small moments and find joy in everyday things. Professionally, becoming a parent has strengthened my empathy and helped me better understand the different responsibilities and challenges that people may be balancing outside of work.

Looking back at your journey across Struandale, Silverton, and now NSC, what has been the most defining moment of your career so far?

Rather than one single moment, I would say my defining experience has been the journey of moving between Struandale, Silverton, and NSC. Every move required me to adapt to a new environment, build credibility with new teams, and broaden my perspective. Looking back, that journey has shaped me into a more resilient, versatile, and people-centred professional.

Is there a particular project, initiative, or achievement you're most proud of during your time at Ford?

I could list many achievements from HR, but I am especially proud of our engagement activities. They have been a true collaborative effort, bringing people together across the team to create meaningful moments of connection, recognition, and shared purpose.

What does Women's Month mean to you, both personally and as a woman working in the automotive industry?

Women’s Month is a beautiful reminder of the strength, resilience, and determination that women show every single day. For me personally, it represents the balance of everyday life being a sister, wife, friend, and mother, while also growing as a professional and continuing to overcome challenges. It is about embracing every role with love, purpose, and courage. Working in the automotive industry has reminded me that women truly belong in every space. Although it has traditionally been male dominated, it is an industry that has evolved immensely. It is a space where I feel valued, empowered and a space where everyone belongs.

Who is a woman (in your life, at Ford, or in history) who has inspired or influenced you, and why?

The women who inspire me most are those who lead with love, strength, and selflessness. My mother is an exceptional human being who leads with kindness and so much love. She truly believes that life is about giving rather than taking, and I hope to centre my own life around those values.

My aunt is another incredible source of inspiration. Despite battling cancer for many years, she continues to show up for her family and friends, no matter what personal challenges she is facing. She is a true warrior and a fiercely strong woman.

At Ford, there are many women who have touched my life and inspired me to be better. One person who stands out is our HR Director, Lynn Damons. She is an exceptional leader and a fierce woman whose strength, leadership, and presence continue to inspire me.

What advice would you give to young women just starting their careers, especially those hoping to work in the automotive industry?

Be curious and believe in your abilities and your potential. Stay authentic to who you are, keep learning, and build meaningful relationships along the way. Embrace every opportunity to grow, support others, and never underestimate the value you bring.
