An Electric Van Built for the City
Purpose-built by Ford Pro for modern urban logistics, the all-new Ford Transit City® represents a key expansion of the legendary Transit lineup that dates back to 1965, following its global debut in Europe in March 2026.
The electric van is offered in three body styles — L1H1 Van, L2H2 Van and Chassis Cab — with a payload of up to 1,600 kg and a cargo volume of up to 8.5 m³, providing flexible solutions for diverse urban delivery scenarios.
Powered by a 56 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a 110 kW front-mounted electric motor, the Transit City® delivers a WLTP range of up to 254 km (actual range may vary depending on temperature, load, driving style, and road conditions). Fast-charging capability allows it to add 50 km of driving range in just 10 minutes. Compared to conventional diesel-powered vans, estimated maintenance and service costs are reduced by approximately 40%, supported by an 8-year / 160,000 km warranty for high-voltage components.
To meet the rigorous safety and technology benchmarks of developed markets, the vehicle comes standard with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)—including Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Aid, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control—as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Global Quality Through Rigorous Validation
Jointly developed by Ford China, Ford’s global engineering teams, and Jiangling Motors, the all-new Ford Transit City® strictly adhered to Ford’s global product development processes and quality standards—from design validation through to mass production.
The vehicle underwent exhaustive global testing and validation, simulating 10 years and over 240,000 kilometers of high-intensity operating conditions within an accelerated evaluation timeframe. To specifically address the demands of urban stop-and-go driving, engineers conducted additional targeted durability tests on high-wear components, including the sliding side doors, rear cargo doors, EV powertrain system, and the seats.

JMC's Xiaolan Plant operates in full accordance with Ford's global manufacturing and quality control systems. The successful production and export of this vehicle underscore JMC's product development capabilities and manufacturing excellence, which now fully meet the world's most rigorous quality standards — affirming the company's ability to reliably supply developed markets on an ongoing basis.
Three Decades of Partnership: Strategic Collaboration Elevated to New Heights
In 1995, Ford Motor Company and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) signed a landmark agreement establishing a long-term strategic partnership. In late 1997, the first locally produced Ford Transit rolled off the line at JMC, launching the iconic brand’s storied journey in China. Nearly thirty years later, on the very same grounds, the start of mass production for the all-new Ford Transit City®—bound for Europe and other high-standard global markets—marks a major strategic evolution in the partnership: transitioning from introducing global products to China to serving the world with China-built excellence.

The Transit City Program Team
Leveraging China's automotive industry advantages while carrying forward the legendary Ford Transit DNA, the all-new Ford Transit City® export program spans 52 markets across five continents, tailored specifically for 1-tonne payload last-mile delivery scenarios. The project combines JMC’s deep heritage in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment with China's rapid EV development efficiency, forging a distinctive competitive edge defined by "European Standards, China Speed."
The export program also achieves several industry breakthroughs. As Ford China’s inaugural commercial vehicle export program to Europe, the model has secured the stringent E1-level EU Cybersecurity Type-Approval certification and dynamically complies with evolving EU ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regulatory frameworks—setting a new benchmark for Chinese-built commercial vehicles entering high-barrier mature markets.
Looking ahead, the all-new Transit City will complement the E-Transit Custom, jointly strengthening Ford Pro’s leading product lineup in the one-tonne segment. Order books for the model officially opened in Europe in the second quarter of 2026, with the first units expected to deliver to customers by the end of the year.
