MILAN, Italy - In Milan, in Piazza Paci, in the heart of the Barona neighborhood, an old neighbourhood sports field has been transformed into a stunning sports court, thanks to Ford.
Through a collaboration with the City of Milan and City District 6, and under the artistic guidance of the Truly Design collective, Ford has created a fantastic sport facility for the community that also doubles as a giant open-air mural.
“The projects carried out over the past year in this part of the city are helping to make the Barona–Sant’Ambrogio neighbourhood increasingly vibrant and inclusive, capable of creating opportunities and strengthening the sense of community,” said Gaia Romani, Milan City Councillor for Civic Engagement.
“Actions that enhance public spaces and tangibly improve people’s quality of life demonstrate just how essential it is to build synergies between institutions, the City Administration, the City Council, private entities, and the local community to restore value to the city’s spaces.”

Marco Buraglio, CEO of Ford Italy, told @Ford: “For over 120 years, Ford has provided tangible support to the communities where it operates and maintains a presence through its network around the world.
“For us, this project represents a tangible example of this commitment and how it translates at the local level into actions capable of building value over time. By returning a place like this to the Barona community, we are inviting people to reclaim urban spaces and take care of them.”
Working alongside Ford to ensure the continuity of this long-term vision is Slums Dunk, a non-profit organisation founded by Bruno Cerella and Tommaso Marino that uses sports as a tool for education and social change, with programs that start with play and the values of sports and aim to build a better future.
“For us, sports are a powerful tool for education and empowerment,” said Tommaso. “Here, we want to build something that will stand the test of time, together with the neighbourhood.”
