Ford Thailand Invests Over THB 2.5 Million to Empower Thai Youth in the 9th Year of Its Apprenticeship Program, Awarding Scholarships to 40 Students

Jun 15, 2026

Ford Thailand is continuing its ‘Transforming Knowledge into Career’ program for the ninth consecutive year, aiming to elevate the skills and capabilities of Thai youth and preparing them for the automotive industry. The program provides scholarships, engine donations, and professional training. This year, the program has expanded into the Northeast, awarding a total of 40 scholarships valued at THB 2,579,700. Ford also held a graduation ceremony for students completing the program from Thai - Austrian Technical College (TATC) and the Automotive Technology College, reinforcing Ford’s commitment to fostering future-ready skills among Thai youth.

For 2026, this program is funded by Ford Philanthropy and Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) plant, in collaboration with Teach for Thailand. The partnership aims to expand support to High Vocational Certificate (Diploma) students across more regions in Thailand, ensuring that financially underprivileged youth have access to education and practical skill development.

PK Umashankar, Senior Director of Customer Service Operations, Ford International Markets Group, highlighted the program’s growth and long-term impact:

We are incredibly proud of how this initiative has evolved over nearly a decade. What started as a mechatronics-focused program by our Ford Thailand Manufacturing team has grown into a powerful dual pathway, preparing talented youth for high-value careers at both our manufacturing plants and our dealership service centers. It gives me great personal pride to see our graduates successfully transitioning into full-time roles within the Ford family, proving that we are truly building a sustainable future for the Thai automotive workforce.

  • Automotive Technology College, Bangkok (9 scholarships): Supporting students in the 2-year dual vocational education program, which includes hands-on training opportunities at Ford Service Centers.

  • Additionally, Ford has supported the Automotive Department at Ban Khai Technical College, Rayong Province, by donating a 2.0-liter diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission—the same powertrain featured in the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest. This donation will serves as an instructional tool to help students learn about Ford’s latest automotive technologies.

Ratthakarn Jutasen, Managing Director of Ford Thailand, stated “Now in its ninth year, the ‘Transforming Knowledge into Career’ program reflects Ford’s unwavering commitment to developing highly skilled professionals equipped with both the theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise to keep pace with the modern technologies in Ford vehicles, as well as the latest innovations in vehicle maintenance, ensuring we deliver top-quality service to our customers. This year, we are focused on expanding our support to students in more regions to alleviate financial burdens, promote a healthy work-life balance, and support the mental well-being of students who may be living far from home. Our ultimate goal is to foster an environment where well-rounded talent can thrive and drive the future of the Thai automotive industry.”

Beyond easing the financial burden for students, the ‘Knowledge to Career’ program offers essential training led by Ford experts, featuring:

  • Mentorship Program: Connecting students with experienced technicians from Ford Service Centers to provide hands-on guidance and share valuable industry insights.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Focusing on time management and skill enhancement to ensure students are fully prepared before entering the job market.
  • Progress Monitoring and Evaluation: Providing ongoing tracking and additional assistance as needed to ensure students achieve both their educational and professional goals.
  • Work-Study Balance Integration: Collaborating with colleges and employers to establish suitable schedules that facilitate effective learning.

Somsak Poebaikul, Dealer Council Representative from Ford Auto Gallery Group, shared the invaluable real-world perspective of Ford's dealer partners:

This project does far more than just open educational doors for students facing financial challenges. It offers them an invaluable chance to learn while doing real-world work at Ford Service Centers, allowing them to earn an income during their studies and directly relieving their families' financial burdens. Furthermore, by training under Ford’s standard curriculum, these students achieve Level 2 Technician certification alongside their High Vocational Certificates, enabling them to transition immediately into rewarding, full-time careers as technicians at our service centers.
