In June, two earthquakes, the largest a magnitude 7.5, struck Venezuela just seconds apart, devastating communities in La Guaira, Caracas, and the country's main seaport. Within hours, Ford and Ford Philanthropy teams sprang into action. Through Ford Building Together, Ford Philanthropy, Ford dealers across the region, and our trusted partners swiftly began coordinating relief, bringing together funding, food, medical care, and vehicles to get support where it's needed most.
Here's the latest on the ongoing efforts:
Ford of Mexico is donating $200,000 to Cáritas México: Ford of Mexico and its dealers are donating approximately 4 million pesos ($200,000 USD), channeled through Cáritas México to support recovery efforts on the ground. Across Ford of Mexico facilities, employees are collecting food, medicine, and basic supplies and organizing voluntary support funds.
Committing $75,000 to the Red Cross: The $75,000 Ford Philanthropy moved within 72 hours through the Ford Red Cross Global Flex Fund is now at work on the ground. More than 6,400 people have been rescued since the onset of the earthquake, and the response is transitioning from emergency rescue operations into recovery. The Venezuelan Red Cross has mobilized more than 300 volunteers and 60 staff members, providing health services to over 3,500 people and supporting more than 2,500 Restoring Family Links requests for separated families.
World Central Kitchen has scaled up meal production: World Central Kitchen has delivered more than 45,000 meals across Miranda, La Guaira, and Carabobo and deployed two ice trucks carrying 3,000 bags of ice to help families preserve food during power outages and extreme heat. A new operational hub near Naiguatá is scaling daily meal production. To help crews move meals and supplies to impacted communities, Ford Venezuela is providing two Rangers from its corporate fleet, with the Oshima dealership loaning an F-250.
Team Rubicon's medical crews are on the ground: Team Rubicon has deployed a Medical Advance Team with an operational focus aligned to EMT Type 1 standards. To help those crews transport supplies and navigate damaged roads, Ford Venezuela and its dealers are loaning four vehicles: an Everest and an Explorer from Ford's corporate fleet, plus two Rangers from the Oshima and Mantrucks dealerships.
Ford Venezuela is donating $15,000 to Cáritas Venezuela and DVC (Dividendo Voluntario para la Comunidad): Ford Venezuela is helping the organizations deliver first aid kits, non-perishable food, water, medications, personal hygiene items, sleeping mats, and blankets to the families who need them most.
The Miami community is pitching in: Ford and Doral Automotive Group are hosting two Ford Building Together activations to drive donations for World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon as they respond to the earthquake.
