AMSTERDAM, Netherlands – The 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently on track to reach an estimated 6 billion viewers globally, but it’s not the only football competition taking place this summer.

At the weekend, Ford sponsored a special 112 Football Tournament in The Netherlands that saw 32 teams of emergency services personnel take to the pitch to raise money for the charity Food Bank.

Ford’s Sebastiaan van de Pol explains: “This sporting tournament brought emergency responders from across the country together to compete against each other and raise money for the Food Bank. With over 350 enthusiastic participants, it was a fantastic and well-attended day. All teams were made up of emergency responders who dedicate themselves to us day in and day out.”

The tournament featured teams from the Police, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Fire Department, Customs, Mental Health Services, Special Enforcement Officers (BOAs), the Dutch Labour Inspectorate, the Police Academy, arrest teams, and the Schiphol Detention Centre.

The matches were played under harsh conditions, with tropical temperatures rising to as high as 35 degrees. Despite the heat, the atmosphere remained sporting and the competition was fierce.

Ultimately, the tournament culminated in a thrilling final in which the Amsterdam Fire Department team took on the Maas&Rotte Police Team. After a thrilling battle that ended in a draw, the Amsterdam Fire Department prevailed on penalties and could proudly call themselves the winners of the tournament.

“Thanks to everyone's efforts, a magnificent sum of no less than €4,351 was raised for the Food Bank,” adds Sebastiaan. “We would like to sincerely thank all participating emergency services, the organization, and everyone who contributed for this unforgettable and meaningful day.”
