COLOGNE, Germany - Ford is making the all-electric Explorer and Capri even more versatile. With the latest model year update, both SUVs have significantly higher towing capacities, instantly placing them among the strongest tow vehicles in their segment.

The Explorer and Capri Standard Range RWD (58 kWh) now feature a braked towing capacity of 1,800 kg, an 80 per cent increase over previous models. The Extended Range versions also benefit from the upgrade. The RWD (79 kWh) sees its towing capacity double to 2,000 kg, and that of the AWD (77 kWh) increases to a whopping 2,200 kg.

The increase in maximum ball pressure from 70 to 90 kg is especially good news for customers who use bike racks and heavy e-bikes.

Thanks to its new Lithium Ferrophosphate (LFP battery), the Explorer Standard Range now offers a range of up to 444 km on a full charge, an increase of more than 17 per cent compared to previous models.

For the Capri Standard Range, this rises to 463 km. LFP battery technology is also more sustainable and less dependent on scarce raw materials.

Ford’s smart, sliding SYNC Move infotainment system has also been updated. The system now runs on new Android-based software with a fresh design and improved user-friendliness. Behind the screen the practical “Private Locker” storage compartment is retained.

The range of driver-assistance systems for Capri and Explorer has also expanded and now features Reversing Assist that helps drivers when backing up in tight or difficult situations. With Trained Park Assist, up to five previously performed parking manoeuvres can be saved, allowing the car to automatically repeat them later for even easier parking.
