The story began on April 19, 2025, when officers in the village of Ślubowo discovered the muscle car crashed in a ditch. Behind the wheel was a 39-year-old Warsaw resident whose blood alcohol level was multiple times the legal limit
Under Polish regulations introduced to combat impaired driving, authorities are permitted to seize vehicles from drivers found with excessive blood alcohol levels. Following the driver's arrest, the Mustang was towed to a guarded lot, where it remained until a District Court ordered the formal forfeiture of the vehicle to the State Treasury.
While confiscated assets are typically auctioned by the tax office, the police saw a unique opportunity. Citing the need for high-speed interceptors to improve road safety, the police filed a formal motion to acquire the vehicle. With the support of the District Prosecutor, the court transferred the Mustang directly to the Police.
"This fast and powerful car, once a symbol of reckless endangerment, will now serve the citizens of Radom," said Chief Superintendent Waldemar Wołowiec, the Provincial Police Commander.
The Mustang has undergone a complete transformation, swapping its civilian look for the silver-and-blue livery of the Road Traffic Department.
And, just a few days ago, it was officially revealed at the Radom Automobile Club where public could see the vehicle up close and learn about its technical specifications.
The Mustang’s speed and acceleration will be invaluable for highway patrols and intercepting dangerous drivers. For the local community, it also serves as a high-visibility reminder of the severe consequences of driving under the influence.
