Meanwhile, at Ford’s Almussafes facility in Valencia, the company organised a day of celebration with external guest speakers and a special round table discussion featuring prominent women from the region including assistant plant manager Lucia Hernandez and Paula Carsí, Ford Global Manufacturing Innovation leader.

At Merkenich in Germany, the FCSD team, supported by the union and works council, gathered on Tuesday to mark the group’s 30th anniversary. The event will be followed by a series of workshops

International Women's Day (IWD), which takes place annually on March 8, is a global day recognising the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for advancing gender equality.

Last week, Ford was honoured with a prestigious 2026 Sandy Myhre Award, which recognizes the brand’s commitment to women.

The award was bestowed by a jury of 84 women motoring journalists from the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOY) 2026 and it was accepted on behalf of the company by Jesus Alonso, managing director, Ford Spain, at a ceremony in Madrid.

Commenting on the award, Jim Baumbick, President, Ford of Europe, said: “A huge thanks to the entire team at Ford, to our colleague Jesús Alonso for accepting this honor on behalf of the entire Ford family, and to Women's Worldwide Car Of The Year (WWCOTY) for recognizing Ford for our clear and sustained focus on gender equality.

To the women who haven't joined us yet: we want you here. We want your perspective, your ideas, and your leadership as we build what’s next for Ford in Europe. Ford is for everyone, and that’s how we are going to win." #PlaytoWin #ReadySetFord #WomenofFord
