The journey began in Vienna, traversing through Germany, Switzerland, France, and Spain before crossing into Morocco. From there, the team pushed southward through the Sahara Desert toward the legendary finish line of the Dakar Rally at Lac Rose in Senegal.

The Mustang Mach-E faced a gauntlet of environmental extremes. Starting in the sub-zero temperatures and snow-covered passes of the Alps, the vehicle also had to contend with the blistering 35-degree heat of the African desert.

Outperforming three other teams from Switzerland, Germany, and Morocco, the Mustang Mach-E achieved the greatest range of all participating vehicles.

Its all-wheel-drive system proved essential on the border between Mauritania and Senegal, where the team traded paved highways for treacherous off-road sections and shifting desert tracks.

"The Ford Mustang Mach-E performed excellently under all conditions," said Doris Holler-Bruckner upon her return. "Whether on the highway or during an off-road drive through the desert sand—the vehicle was absolutely reliable. This journey impressively demonstrates that electromobility is suitable for everyday use across continents and climate zones."

The vehicle completed the entire 12,500-kilometer distance in just 30 days without a single technical failure

"It's one thing to talk about e-mobility, but quite another to actually live it," said Christian Wotypka of Ford Austria. "This journey impressively demonstrates that the Mustang Mach-E isn't just a city car, but a loyal companion for life—no matter where the road leads.”

He added: "The fact that we were able to impress with the longest range in the field is gratifying – and a great compliment to our engineers. But it was much more important for us to prove that you can rely on this car without hesitation, whether in Vienna, the deep winter Alps, or the Sahara."
