Ford Powers Up Capri with More Range, New Tech

COLOGNE, Germany - Ford today announced an enhanced version of the Capri, created with the soul of a sports car and the usability of a family crossover.

The Capri Collection is a limited series addition to the range and the latest model in the Ford Collection. Drawing inspiration from iconic Capri racing cars and cult-classic performance road cars from the past, Capri Collection features unique design and colour features inside and out.

Capri Standard Range models receive a significant performance boost thanks to a new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and an enhanced electric motor, that delivers more torque for sports car acceleration and up to 463 km of driving range on a full charge, an increase of more than 17 per cent.

New advanced driver assistance systems offer greater support to the driver in a variety of scenarios, while  Pro Power Onboard is a new feature that can power activities away from home, with the addition of a socket in the trunk or an adaptor that plugs into the charge port and can power devices at up to a combined 2.3 kW from the Capri’s drive battery.

Capri’s SYNC Move infotainment system has also been updated with a new design theme to give greater clarity and ease of use, with expanded views of parking and navigation screens and the ability to group apps into folders to suit your preferences.

“Capri is our answer to customers asking for a versatile and capable electric family vehicle that stands out from the crowd,” said Christian Weingaertner, general manager, passenger vehicles, Ford Europe. “The Capri Collection celebrates the motorsport heritage and iconic performance car history of Capri, with the advanced technologies and convenience features of the future.” 

The Capri Collection is the latest addition to the Ford Collection – a limited series of special models combining unique design with an enhanced specification. Drawing on the heritage of its illustrious predecessors, both as a legend of motorsport and a series of iconic performance road cars, Capri Collection links to the past with its design and unique features.

From the outside, Capri Collection makes a bold statement of intent with its exclusive Tribute Blue paint colour, providing a visual link to historic Capri racing liveries. Athletic body styling includes deeper front and rear valances, side skirts and a rear spoiler all finished in black, while new design 21-inch alloy wheels are machine-faced and part finished in satin black to help create the most assertive Capri yet.

Inside, Capri Collection has Black Onyx as the main colour and recalls the Tribute Blue exterior colour on the lower soundbar and seatbelts. 

A distinctive black and blue speckle effect is used across the dashboard and centre console, while the seats feature a vertical stripe insert mirroring the exterior, another reference to Capri’s motorsport heritage.
