DUNTON, UK - Ford Pro today revealed the all-new Transit City, a dedicated electric van designed specifically to navigate the increasing complexities of modern urban logistics.
It marks a significant expansion of the legendary Transit family, which has been a staple of the commercial vehicle market since 1965, and the launch comes at a critical time for European businesses.
With the van-powered sector contributing over €1 trillion to Europe’s GDP, operators are facing mounting pressure from clean air zones, rising operating costs, and strict urban restrictions. According to Simon Robinson of Ford Pro, the Transit City was developed as a "laser-sharp" solution to these specific challenges.
"Ford Pro saw a way to help cost-conscious firms who need the right tool for work in increasingly electric-only cities," Simon stated. "We could offer a super-simple vehicle that still ticks every box – to the point that you wouldn’t need a single optional extra."

The Transit City will debut with three distinct body styles to accommodate various business needs:
To minimise complexity and cost, Ford is offering a single, comprehensive specification across the lineup. Standard features include durable load liners, half-height interior trim, and integrated lashing points.
Data from thousands of connected Ford Pro electric vehicles revealed 90 per cent of vans in Transit City’s segment drive under 110 kilometres a day on average.
The Transit City features a 56 kWh useable capacity battery utilising lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. Ford’s data from thousands of connected vehicles showed that 90 per cent of vans in this segment average less than 110 kilometres a day. The Transit City targets a range of up to 254 km—more than double the daily requirement for most urban users.

The LFP battery chemistry was chosen for its durability and suitability for regular DC fast charging. When using a fast charger, the van can add 50 km of range in just 10 minutes, or charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 33 minutes.

“I’m confident that diesel van drivers will love the shift to electric,” adds Simon. “A front-wheel drive setup and 110 kW e-motor mean Transit City is smooth, quiet, and offers instant torque to get heavy loads moving.”
With fewer moving parts than traditional diesel engines, maintenance costs are expected to drop by approximately 40 per cent. The vehicle also features a generous service interval of two years or 40,000 km.
The interior is tailored for the high-frequency demands of delivery work, where drivers may exit the vehicle over 200 times a day. Standard equipment includes keyless start, a heated driver’s seat for energy-efficient warmth, and a 12-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety remains a priority for the urban-focused van, which comes standard with a suite of driver-assist technologies including Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a Rear-View Camera to help drivers navigate tight loading bays and busy city streets.
