Mustang Mach-E Ranks First Among Mass-Market EVs in Latest JD Power Study

Feb 20, 2026

Ford Mustang Mach-E ranked the highest in satisfaction for mass-market battery electric vehicles, according to a new JD Power study among U.S. electric vehicle owners.

The consumer intelligence agency published the results of its 2026 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study on Feb. 18. In it, Mach-E scored 760 (on a 1,000-point scale), outpacing competitors like Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 (748) and the Kia EV9 (745).

"This achievement is a testament to the team’s relentless focus on our customers. It proves that applying our ‘Always On’ mentality to refine our products and experiences is exactly what our customers want and value," said Tom Somerville, general manager, Electric SUVs at Ford.

The study also indicated strong gains in overall  electric vehicle owner satisfaction, which reached its highest level since JD Power began tracking it as a metric in 2021. Satisfaction with public charging improved by over 100 points year-over-year, and owner vehicle quality ranking (tracked as problems-per-vehicle) improved as well.

“Improvements in battery technology, charging infrastructure and overall vehicle performance have driven customer satisfaction to its highest level ever,” said Brent Gruber, executive director of the EV practice at JD Power. “What’s more, the vast majority of current EV owners say they will consider purchasing another EV for their next vehicle, regardless of whether they benefited from the now-expired federal tax credit.”
