The workshop opened with remarks from Wendy Burkett, Ford Global Director of Occupational Health and Safety, and Bai Longbin, General Manager of Changan Ford’s Hangzhou Branch. Participants shared progress on annual safety initiatives and practices from their respective teams. They also discussed ways to strengthen risk identification, improve the effectiveness of on-site management and promote cross-team collaboration.

During the event, participants visited the Hangzhou plant’s production areas to observe operations and exchange insights. By examining safety management practices, consolidating their observations and reviewing their findings, the teams explored how to integrate safety requirements into daily operations and turn on-site experience into actions for continuous improvement.

The workshop also included discussions on digital solutions and practical applications of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry. Participants explored how technology can support on-site risk identification and safety management, sharing best practices and considering ways to further improve safety management effectiveness.

In a session looking ahead to 2027, participants discussed future priorities and how to connect the year’s practices with upcoming goals. John Mullins, Director of Manufacturing and Quality, Ford China and Julie Chu, Plant Manager of Changan Ford Hangzhou, delivered closing remarks.

The workshop provided a platform for teams across sites to exchange ideas and collaborate. Ford China will continue to promote the sharing of safety experience, on-site engagement and continuous improvement, working together to build a more proactive, collaborative and sustainable occupational health and safety management system.
