Global Food Drive: Silverton Teams Collect 2.5 Tons of Food for SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi

Oct 12, 2026

First, a huge thank you to every single team that took part in the Global Food Drive. Together, we collected an incredible 2.5 tons of food, double last year's contribution! It is a powerful reminder that we can achieve great things when we pull together.

Employees organised, collected, packed, carried food and encouraged one another along the way. The competition was friendly but real, and it brought out strong team spirit and collaboration.

When the scales were read on weigh-in day, the total came to 2.5 tons. The day showed what we can achieve when we unite behind a common goal. The result reflected the commitment of the people who gave their best and the generosity of our Ford colleagues.

The food arrived at SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi as a straightforward drop-off. A small group of team members made the delivery, which suited the space available and kept things efficient.

Respect shaped how we approached the day. The Village is a home to children, and we wanted to honour that. We kept our presence small, and the focus stayed on the children, the families and the difference the food would make.

The team at the Village was very grateful. They had not expected such a large contribution, and they told the Ford team the food should last around six to eight weeks. For an organisation caring for so many children, that means weeks of meals they can count on. It also frees up time and resources for what matters most: caring for the children and supporting families.

To the Ford Silverton employees who donated, packed, weighed and delivered: thank you. Your hard work and generosity will keep children and families at SOS Children's Village in Mamelodi fed for weeks to come. It shows the kind of impact we can have when we work together.
