Ford APDM Technician Skill Contest 2026: Celebrating Excellence in Service

Oct 03, 2026

Technicians from across the Ford Asia Pacific Distributor Markets (APDM) region gathered to compete in the 2026 APDM Technician Skill Contest — a two-day showcase of the technical expertise, analytical thinking, and customer-first mindset that define Ford's aftersales service standards.

Representing markets across the region, top-performing technicians tackled a series of demanding, real-world diagnostic and repair scenarios designed to test not only their hands-on technical skills, but also their ability to interpret customer concerns, apply data-driven insights, and deliver solutions with confidence and clarity — all in line with Ford's global commitment to Fix It Right First Time (FIRFT).

After a highly competitive round of practical assessments, the following technicians were recognized for their outstanding performance:

🏆 The Winner Ye Naing Win — Technician, Myanmar

🥈 1st Runner-Up Tharindu Padumadasa — Technician, Sri Lanka

🥉 2nd Runner-Up Chi Ho Yeung — Technician, Hong Kong

The APDM Skill Contest placed strong emphasis on structured problem-solving. Competitors were required to separate genuine vehicle issues from customer-perceived concerns, apply technical and diagnostic data — including insights from Ford's Connected Vehicle systems — and clearly communicate their findings, mirroring the exact challenges technicians face daily in service centers across the region.

This dual focus — technical mastery paired with clear communication — reflects Ford's broader philosophy that exceptional aftersales service starts with truly understanding the customer, then applying the right expertise to solve the problem with precision and confidence.

“Every challenge is an opportunity to learn. This achievement reminds me that with continuous learning, teamwork, and perseverance, we can achieve more than we think possible,” said Ye Naing Win. “I feel truly honored and grateful to receive this recognition. Representing RMA Managed Markets Myanmar and Myanmar on the international stage was a proud moment for me. This achievement is not mine alone. It reflects the support, guidance, and encouragement of my managers, mentors, colleagues, teammates, and family throughout my journey. I hope this accomplishment inspires others to keep learning, keep improving, and never stop believing in their potential."

Ye Naing Win is a Technical Trainer at RMA Managed Markets Myanmar (Capital Automotive Ltd. - Ford Myanmar), with more than 7 years of experience within the Ford service network. Beginning his career as an Automotive Technician in 2019, he progressed through Senior Technician, Technician Team Leader, and now Technical Trainer. Passionate about continuous learning and people development, he is committed to building technician capability and supporting service excellence across the network.

The APDM Technician Skill Contest is part of Ford's ongoing commitment to strengthening technical talent across its distributor markets. By bringing together the best technicians from across Asia Pacific, the contest fosters a culture of shared learning, healthy competition, and continuous skill development — ensuring that Ford customers, no matter where they are in the region, receive the Ford brand of service that meets the same high standard of quality and reliability.

As Ford continues to invest in advanced technician training and diagnostic technology across its network, contests like this serve as both a proving ground and a celebration of the people who make the service experience possible — one vehicle, one customer, and one market at a time.

Congratulations to Ye Naing Win, Tharindu Padumadasa, Chi Ho Yeung, and all technicians who competed at this year's APDM Technician Skill Contest.
