AMSTERSDAM, Netherlands – Ford’s all-electric E-Transit has just taken on a new role as an animal rescue vehicle in the Netherlands.
This zero-emissions Transit has been supplied to Dierenambulance Amsterdam and will be used to transport injured and medically vulnerable animals.
The Amsterdam Animal Ambulance is on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the E-Transit has been specially adapted with secure cages and medical equipment for this role.
Ford’s Sebastiaan van de Pol explains: “The Amsterdam Animal Ambulance foundation has been using Transits for more than 20 years now. Initially the ambulances were glorified vans but now they are full-fledged medical units.”
He adds: “E-Transits are just as versatile and adaptable as diesel-powered models – but importantly, they are also allowed to operate within the zero-emission city center of Amsterdam.”
