Ford Vietnam Strengthens Partnership with Hai Phong City Leadership

Sep 16, 2025

On September 12, the leadership of Ford Vietnam, led by Managing Director Ruchik Shah, met with Mr. Lê Tiến Châu, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee, along with other senior city leaders. The meeting reaffirmed Hai Phong’s strong commitment to supporting Ford’s operations and future expansion in Vietnam.

A Shared Commitment to Growth and Sustainability

During the meeting, Secretary Lê Tiến Châu congratulated Ford on its 30 years of presence in Vietnam and acknowledged the company’s contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, particularly in Hải Dương and now Hai Phong. He emphasized that Hai Phong always stands by businesses — not only in times of prosperity but also during challenges — and will continue to remove obstacles, protect legitimate interests, and create favorable conditions for companies like Ford to develop sustainably.

The Secretary also highlighted the government’s priorities in promoting green transportation and electric vehicles (EVs), in line with Vietnam’s environmental policies and global trends. He expressed his hope that Ford Vietnam would adopt flexible solutions to introduce new vehicle lines that align with both local market needs and international sustainability goals.

Opportunities with Hai Phong’s New Role

With the recent administrative merger, Hai Phong has become the third largest economy in Vietnam and has been granted unique policies, including the establishment of a Free Trade Zone—the first of its kind in the country. Secretary Lê Tiến Châu encouraged Ford to explore opportunities to expand operations in the city, taking advantage of these preferential conditions while continuing to contribute to Hai Phong’s development.

Ford Vietnam’s Vision and Commitment

Speaking at the meeting, Ruchik Shah expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and continuous support from Hai Phong’s leadership. He particularly appreciated the city’s initiative to include Ford Vietnam in Hai Phong’s pavilion at the upcoming national exhibition “80 Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness,” calling it an important platform to showcase Ford’s heritage and innovation.

He also shared Ford Vietnam’s recent achievements: in 2024, Ford Vietnam sold 42,175 vehicles, a 10% increase over 2023, capturing 10% of the national auto market, with more than 70% of production now locally assembled.

“Vietnam — and Hai Phong in particular — remain a key market for Ford. We are committed to developing new models to meet customer needs and to contribute actively to the city’s sustainable growth,” Ruchik said.
