Ford Vietnam Volunteers Help Build a Better Environment for An Phượng School

Aug 26, 2025

Sixty Ford employees devoted their time and energy to transform An Phượng Secondary School in Hải Phòng during a Global Caring Month project supported by Ford Philanthropy.

With USD 17,000 in support from Ford Philanthropy, the Volunteer Day brought visible improvements to the school. A brand-new restroom facility was built, the parking area damaged by Typhoon Yagi was repaired and refreshed with road-safety decorations, five new shade trees were planted, and students received a road-safety training session to strengthen their awareness and skills.

Throughout the day, Ford volunteers split their time between painting, planting, and distributing bicycles and helmets to children. Their hands-on efforts brought both practical change and heartfelt encouragement to the school community.

Speaking at the event, Hoàng Thị Thanh Tâm, Deputy Managing Director of Ford Vietnam, emphasized that the activities were part of a wider tradition that embodies Ford’s culture of caring. “Global Caring Month has become a meaningful tradition at Ford worldwide, reflecting our strong commitment to spreading compassion and contributing positively to society,” she said. She also noted that 2025 holds a deeper meaning as Ford Vietnam celebrates its 30th anniversary. “These projects reflect our long-standing commitment to the community and our desire to create a safer, friendlier, and healthier environment for the next generation,” she added.

The initiative was successfully led by the Silver Compass ERG, whose leadership and coordination made the day seamless. Volunteers went beyond their normal work, putting in effort and care to ensure the projects not only improved the school’s facilities but also uplifted its spirit.

As the children put on their new helmets and rode their new bicycles, the pride and joy on their faces said it all. For teachers and parents, the day was more than material support — it was a reminder that the Ford family is deeply committed to the well-being of the next generation. As Ms. Tâm reflected in her closing remarks, the gifts and improvements will continue to inspire teachers and students at An Phượng to reach new heights in their studies and to grow into a stronger, safer future.
