DUNTON, UK – As the world celebrates International Men’s Health Week, Ford’s army of “Mo Bros” who each November grow moustaches to champion men’s health awareness have been awarded an Outstanding Achievement honour by the charity Movember in recognition of 17 years of fund-raising.
In that time, they have raised nearly £170,000 for Movember to help fund research into prostate and testicular cancer, and to support mental health and suicide prevention.
Matt Loynes, Ford’s chief Mo Bro, said: “As a passionate advocate in this space, I've seen firsthand the devastating impact of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health, and suicide on men and their families. These aren't distant statistics; they are our fathers, brothers, sons, partners, and friends. Movember, has been instrumental in bringing these issues out of the shadows, funding groundbreaking research, and providing vital support programs.”
Ford’s Movember community was formed back in 2008 by a small group of guys who were touched by the issues Movember tackles and wanted to make a tangible difference. They decided to embrace the Mo, start conversations, and raise some funds.
Matt adds: “What started as a small group has blossomed into a powerful, enduring community within Ford Europe. Every conversation started within the Ford community helps chip away at the dangerous stigma surrounding men's health issues. It normalises talking about checking your testicles, getting prostate exams, and admitting when you're struggling mentally. It creates a culture where vulnerability isn't weakness, but strength.
“Movember fosters camaraderie, a shared sense of purpose and shows that colleagues care about each other beyond the work itself. This isn't a fleeting corporate initiative; this is grassroots passion meeting sustained commitment.”
