Hands-Free Driving for a Hands-On Life: BlueCruise in 2025

Jul 15, 2025

Life is busy and people spend a lot of time in their car. In 2023, drivers in the U.S. reported spending around one hour in the car and driving nearly 30 miles each day, according to a AAA study.

BlueCruise hands-free highway driving can help give Ford and Lincoln customers with busy, hands-on lives more energy and create more connections with those around them. And we know people are using and enjoying BlueCruise. In 2024, customers spent 2 million hours using BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. This was up 33% over the previous year.

We expect this number to increase in 2025 as we expand the availability of BlueCruise across additional 2025 model year vehicles and trims to give more customers who want an electric, hybrid or gas-powered Ford vehicles access to hands-free highway driving.

Check out how the BlueCruise team is bringing this to life in a few new videos that just dropped.

We want to hear how you are using BlueCruise to connect with others. Share your stories with us via #BlueCruise or in the comments below.

Learn More about BlueCruise:

  • BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology.
  • BlueCruise is a Level 2 driver assistance system meaning that as the driver, you must actively participate and be prepared to take over at any time and keep your eyes on the road. It is not a self-driving or crash avoidance system.
  • BlueCruise is built on driver assistance technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control, which automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed to maintain a safe distance from the car in front of you, and Lane centering which keeps you centered in your lane.
  • BlueCruise will manage the steering, braking and accelerating for you. By allowing the driver to go hands-free, BlueCruise helps make driving less stressful and more enjoyable, whether in stop-and-go traffic on a daily commute or on a long road trip.
  • BlueCruise is continuing to be developed by our in-house ADAS engineering team.
