From Le Mans to Your Garage: Why Racing Is Important to Ford

Jun 18, 2025

Sitting trackside at Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, Ford President and CEO Jim Farley and global director of Ford Performance Mark Rushbrook answered employee questions about the relationship between Ford racing and the vehicles sold in showrooms every day.

With Jay Ward, global Ford Performance communications director, posing questions submitted by Ford employees, Farley and Rushbrook explored Ford’s upcoming reentry into Formula 1 racing, as well as the company’s push to compete in both on- and off-road races. Most important, they emphasized how Ford incorporates technology used in high-performance cars and trucks into the vehicles that make up the company’s retail lineup.

Of course, competing at the highest level on the biggest stages remains a company priority, a point that Rushbrook summed up best when he said, “We do not want to go racing just to go racing. There’s got to be a business benefit to it.”
