ROME, Italy – Ford ambassador Alessia Zecchini freedives to the bottom of the world’s deepest swimming pool in this video now showing on @Ford.

Take a deep breath and join her as she effortlessly plunges down to 42 metres and rests at that depth for 40 seconds before beginning her ascent back to the surface.

For Alessia, freediving to 42 metres is easy. Two years ago, she smashed the word record for “Constant Weight” freediving by descending 123 metres into the sea off the Philippines.

With a list of achievements that includes 17 gold medals and 38 world records, Alessia fully embodies the Ford spirit: determination, resilience and a constant aspiration to push herself beyond her limits, surpassing them.

“I started freediving when I was 13 after I completed all swimming certifications,” she explains. “Family holidays in the Mediterranean Sea have been the original setting of my relationship with the Sea. However, before I was allowed to compete officially, I had to wait until I turned 18.”

Alessia, who has been a Ford ambassador since 2024, adds: “I train every day, three or four hours a day, in the pool and at the gym. When a competition is approaching, I reach the location a fair amount of days before the actual challenge, so to get familiar with new conditions. Another essential part of my training, besides a high level of mental concentration, focuses on muscle stretching, which is needed to enhance lung capacity and to optimise my breathing techniques.”

Ford Italy’s Massimiliano Mileto explains: “Our collaboration with Alessia creates content that goes beyond simple vehicle promotion. It explores universal and very current themes such as mental preparation, the value of silence, the importance of focus, and breath control, finding a deep connection between high-level sports discipline and the experience offered by a modern, silent electric vehicle like the Ford Explorer.”

Located in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, the Y-40 swimming pool featured in this video has a depth of 42m at its deepest point and contains 4.3 million-litres of water.
