Ford recently hosted more than 100 content creators for a drive of the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition in Kentucky.
Ford recently launched the all-new fifth-generation Ford Expedition, and the company hosted more than 100 content creators, including automotive, tech, and business media outlets, for an exclusive drive experience in Louisville, Kentucky, the city where the large SUV is assembled.
The experience highlighted how Expedition is designed and engineered for families and included an overview of the new Ford Digital Experience, as well as drives along curated routes. Attendees also had the opportunity to experience BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology in highway driving scenarios, and took the all-new Expedition Tremor through an off-road experience.
Reviewers loved Expedition’s design and handling and innovative new features, as well as the new Tremor series’ capability off the beaten path. Below are some of their comments:
Raves
“Everything feels very intuitive and well-thought-out, including the flattened steering wheel top that allows an unobstructed view of the info panel.” – Edmunds
“Despite the utilitarian, truck-like roots of the Expedition, it drives remarkably well. … it offers a luxury experience that you'd more commonly find in something like a Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade. – Jalopnik
“... the Expedition is just as spacious and useful as ever — now perhaps more so with its nifty new Ford Split Gate rear end.” – Cars.com
“Kudos, Ford engineers, for giving us a proper off-road Expedition and not just an on-road SUV playing dress-up.” – MotorTrend
“It tackled trails with aplomb and ease. … the Expedition impressed me for a full-size SUV thanks to its low cowl, huge windows, and dashboard design, which translate to fantastic visibility.” – Gear Patrol
“With 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet, the hi-po V-6 is a weapon of mass propulsion.” – Car and Driver
“Most versions of the Expedition will come with a power sliding center console. … This power sliding console has a massive cubby that could hide a purse, computer, or snacks out of any prying eyes while parked.” – Autoweek
“ … Ford has truly tuned chassis dynamics and steering so that the Expedition/Max are easy to drive and belie their bulk.” – Top Speed
“Redesigned for 2025, the Expedition retains subdued styling on the outside, but its tech-forward interior looks impressively futuristic.” – CarGurus
“ ... a cabin fancy enough to rival its Lincoln Navigator stablemate on the high-end King Ranch and Platinum trims.” – The Drive
Rants
“The only thing that's hard to swallow? The price tag. The Expedition starts at $63,995 for a rear-wheel-drive Active and tops out around $95,000 for a King Ranch in the long-wheelbase Expedition Max variant.” – Edmunds
“My one real gripe with driving the Expedition is how much steering input it needs.” – Jalopnik
“The new shape of the Expedition’s steering wheel (it’s a flattened oval, or a “squircle” to some) makes off-roading a little unusual.” – Cars.com
“Its handling is ungainly, and its steering has a fierce return-to-center. It was underwhelming in braking performance too, requiring 182 feet to come to a stop from 70 mph.” – Car and Driver
“However, some design decisions like integrating steering-wheel movement control into the touch-based multifunction wheel are head-scratchers.” – Autoweek
“We’ll be straight: We don’t love Ford’s recipe for in-car controls. Only a few hard switches remain in the center stack, including a volume knob for the audio system.” – Top Speed
“(BlueCruise) was consistent for me but appeared to be less solid for other drivers on this particular press event, for whatever reason.” – The Drive
