On 2 December 2025, the SOS Children’s Village in Mamelodi, located right at the doorstep of Ford’s Silverton Manufacturing Plant, was alive with laughter and excitement. This village provides a loving home for orphaned and abandoned children, ensuring they grow up within their own cultural and religious traditions while having access to essential needs such as food, healthcare, shelter, and education. Home to 90 children across 15 houses, each cared for by a loving house mother, became the centre of joy as Ford Senior Executives and employees arrived to celebrate an early Christmas with the children.
The celebration began with a beautiful surprise by the children who performed a lively dance routine for their guests, filling the air with cheerful music and movement that radiated pure happiness. For many of these children, this day was more than just a celebration, it was a moment of magic! Some were receiving a gift for the very first time in their lives. The sparkle in their eyes and the wide smiles said it all. Each present was more than just a treat, it was a message of love, hope, and belonging.
The Ford South Africa team didn’t only hand over gifts, they shared hugs, laughter, and stories - creating memories that will last long after the gifts have been unwrapped. The house mothers, who dedicate their lives to nurturing these children, were also honoured with gifts, a gesture of gratitude for their unwavering care.
As the fun-filled event drew to a close, the village was filled with cheerful chatter, and the lingering joy of a day well spent. It wasn’t just about the gifts, it was about connection, kindness, and the true spirit of Christmas. For the children of SOS, and for everyone who attended, this was a day that reminded us all that when we come together, we can make the world a little brighter.
