The Ford 2025 China Plant Manager Summit successfully concluded recently at the Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) Fushan Plant in Nanchang.

The summit, themed "Facing 2026 Innovation and Breakthrough! Utilizing New Technologies and Ideas to Further Enhance Quality & Cost," set the direction for the high-quality development of Ford China's manufacturing system over the next year.

Leadership Consensus and Self-Criticism

Leadership from Ford China, Changan Ford, and JMC defined the mission and vision for the China manufacturing system. Zeng Fafa, VP of Manufacturing at JMC, stated the goal is to transform successful experiences from individual plants into unified standards and best practices for Ford China.

Jerry Lin, Director of Manufacturing, Quality, and Launch at Ford China, urged managers to embrace "self-criticism" and ensure concrete implementation of strategies. 

Mike Chang, VP of Manufacturing, MP&L at Changan Ford, shared insights on eliminating non-value-added work and boosting effective work-time based on external benchmarking.

Addressing Challenges and Quality Enhancement

The managers reviewed tasks, directly addressed challenges in core metrics like manufacturing cost, and shared how to reduce costs and improve efficiency through innovative technologies, process modifications, and AI applications.

The quality session reviewed global quality indicators and successful Chinese case studies, including process optimization to significantly increase First Pass Yield and advanced quality management to remarkably reduce A-class Customer Reported Problems Per Hundred Vehicles (CPH), achieving sustained optimization in operational excellence and cost control.
