
This week, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Cebu, Philippines. Within hours, the Ford team sprang into action. Ford Philanthropy, our local Ford colleagues, dealers, and partners, swiftly began providing support. Here’s a quick update on the ongoing efforts:
- Swift Action: Our trusted partner, Gawad Kalinga, was able to respond without delay, thanks to critical pre-existing Ford Philanthropy grants and established disaster relief hubs. This meant help could reach those in need faster.
- Vital Resources on the Ground: Gawad Kalinga is actively deploying essential items like Starlink to help people connect, water purifiers for safe drinking water, EcoFlow generators to restore power, and kitchen equipment to prepare meals for large groups in affected communities. Gawad Kalinga is also providing hot meals and 1,000 relief packs to earthquake victims.
- Community Spirit: It's inspiring to see that local Ford Off-road and Everest club members have already shown incredible generosity, donating over 1,000 packed meals, rice, and water directly to those impacted.
- Addressing Key Needs: Our Global Dealer Engagement team is working with local dealerships to secure loaner vehicles for Gawad Kalinga. These vehicles will be crucial for our partners to transport vital relief supplies to where they are most needed.
