Ford South Africa Unites for Community and Culture Ahead of Heritage Day

Oct 07, 2025

On 23 September 2025, Ford South Africa employees came together in a vibrant celebration of unity, generosity, and cultural pride at the Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria. The day marked a dual purpose: giving back to the community through an initiative that was initiated by the Global Dealer Engagement team and proudly supported by Ford South Africa’s employees, and honouring South Africa’s rich cultural tapestry ahead of Heritage Day.

Inspired by the Ford Building Together initiative—where Ford dealers across the globe collect non-perishable food items for local organisations—employees were encouraged to contribute to the cause. Through their collective efforts, over 1 000 kilograms (1 ton) of food were collected and donated to organisations serving communities around the Silverton plant, reinforcing Ford’s commitment to uplifting the areas in which it operates.

In the spirit of Heritage Day, which commemorates South Africa’s diverse cultures, traditions, and histories, employees were invited to wear traditional attire representing their heritage. Heritage Day, officially recognised since 1995, encourages South Africans to celebrate their roots and the shared values that unite the nation.

The event was a kaleidoscope of colour and pride, with hundreds of employees participating in traditional wear—from isiXhosa beadwork and Zulu regalia to Tswana prints and Indian saris. The celebration fostered a sense of belonging and respect, showcasing the beauty of South Africa’s multicultural workforce.

Together, Ford South Africa employees demonstrated that building a better future means honouring the past, embracing diversity, and supporting the communities that surround them.
