Electrifying Racing as Goodwood Hosts Greenpower International Finals

Oct 20, 2025

DUNTON, UK – Historic Goodwood Motor Circuit hosted the 26th Greenpower International Finals on Sunday with over 90 teams from around the world lining up on the grid in Ford-branded electric race cars.

Naheed Akhtar-Saddique, Ford Greenpower Partnership Lead, said: “It was nothing short of extraordinary. Goodwood Motor Circuit provided the perfect stage, and the presence of the Duke of Richmond and Gordon as Patron of Greenpower elevated the atmosphere to something truly unforgettable. For these young students to experience such a world-class setting is simply priceless.”

Greenpower is a charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car, with a strong focus on sustainability.

Ford has been a proud supporter of Greenpower since its inception in 1999, and in that time the Company has played a key role in supporting Greenpower’s mission through mentorship, technical expertise, and sponsorship of Greenpower teams and events.

Naheed adds: “I had the honour of leading a small Ford team to judge the Ford Technology Awards at the international finals. With 15 exceptional teams and our own rigorous criteria, it was a powerful balance between admiration and evaluation, their talent and passion made the judging both inspiring and humbling.

“This year was made even more special when our Ford Degree Apprentice Ishraq Chowdhury, a former Greenpower competitor, was kindly invited to share his personal journey. He spoke openly about his challenges, determination, and how Greenpower paved the way for his career at Ford. His story perfectly embodied the mission and values of Greenpower, proving that this is not just about racing cars, but about developing real skills that employers want and need. It’s about transforming passion into opportunity and opportunity into a career.”

Ford’s ongoing partnership with Greenpower will see even more teams compete in 2026. Earlier this year, the Company loaned Greenpower a Transit to help with the organisation's mobility needs.

“To see the legacy continue, with over 10,000 students a year learning, building, racing, and growing, is truly inspiring,” Naheed explains. “These young minds aren’t just competing on a track, they’re shaping the future of engineering, innovation, and leadership. I couldn’t be prouder to witness and support their journey.”
