Auction of Rare 2006 Ford GT Powers Future of Heritage Fleet

A rare 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition was recently auctioned for nearly $750,000, the proceeds of which will be used to support the Ford Heritage Fleet, a collection of nearly 500 historic Ford vehicles around the world.

A rare 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition owned from new by Ford has just gone under the hammer for $742,500.

The vehicle, Heritage Edition No. 3, is one of just 343 Heritage Edition series hand-built by Ford in 2006 and is finished in a striking Gulf Oil livery – reminiscent of the legendary Ford GT racing cars that triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Under the hood is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 550 horsepower and more than 500 foot-pounds of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and the car has only 8,435 miles on the odometer.

This GT was owned and used exclusively by Ford throughout its life, serving as a marketing and media car, appearing in promotional materials and events that showcased Ford's design and performance capabilities.

Included in the sale was Certificate of Authenticity and the original Build Book, which documents every stage of its construction.

Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in Ford's Heritage Fleet program, announced earlier this year, which supports the restoration and maintenance of nearly 500 historic Ford vehicles around the world.
