COLOGNE Germany - Ford's strategy to boost its commercial vehicle business through the independent Ford Pro business unit is proving successful, as evidenced by the latest sales figures from Germany.
Ford Pro has made a record start to the first three months of the year, with 19,687 new light commercial vehicle registrations by the end of March. This marks a 14.4 per cent market share and the most successful quarter since 1990, when Ford began recording this data.
The trend upward continued during the quarter, with March seeing 8,632 new registrations in Germany and a 16.5 per cent market share, making it the strongest month ever for Ford commercial vehicle sales in Germany. This also placed Ford Pro in second place in the light commercial vehicle registration statistics for in March for the first time.
This record quarter in Germany adds to Ford Pro's success in Europe, where it has led the light commercial vehicle market for nine consecutive years, a feat unmatched by any other manufacturer.
Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, credits the success to the completely renewed commercial vehicle fleet developed over the past one and a half years.
"From the outset, we focused on the needs of business customers in order to develop practical innovations.” she said. Customers also benefit from Ford Pro's comprehensive offering of smart solutions, connected services, and an extensive distribution network with highly trained Ford dealers."
Key drivers of success have been new Transit and Tourneo Custom in the one-tonne segment, which recorded 4,391 new registrations in the first three months of 2024 after being completely redesigned and launched at the end of last year.
