Interests: DEI & Wellbeing Ford Fun Our Ford+ Plan Our People

For International Women's Day, Ford celebrates the contributions of the visionary women who have transformed the auto industry and continue inspiring the next generation of female innovators.

The tribute features a clever twist on the typical auto advertisement with the launch of a tongue-in-cheek video coined "Ford Explorer Men's Only Edition.” The video is part of a broader digital campaign that shines a spotlight on some of the essential automotive innovations developed by women.

Throughout Women’s History Month, Ford will continue to salute the visionary work of women in the automotive industry, both past and present, while also looking toward the future. Some of the trailblazing women to be featured in the digital campaign include:

Florence Lawrence, Pioneer of brake and turn signals
Hedy Lamarr, Innovator of the communication system used in cellular technology, Wi-Fi and GPS
Dr. Gladys West, Pioneer of the modern-day GPS

Jackie Marshal DiMarco, Vehicle Programs Director for F-Series and Commercial Trucks: As Ford Motor Company’s Vehicle Programs Director for F-Series and Commercial Trucks, Jackie oversees strategy, planning and product development. She also led early development of the Fusion-based Autonomous Vehicle pilot, and served as a powertrain engineer, Chief Engineer and Director of the North American Truck Product Lines in Germany.

Michelle Herrera, Core Safety Engineer: Michelle is a Mexican-Ecuadorian engineer, living in Mexico. She has worked at Ford for 9+ years on the Safety team. She is acknowledged as a leader and mentor within the Core Safety team. She has developed and implemented methodologies and strategies partnering with cross-functional team. She has also filed patents related to Safety performance and customer experience.

Nicole Herrera, CAE & Vibration Testing Engineer: Her official title is CAE & Vibration Testing Engineer, but Nicole describes herself as a Mexican/Ecuadorian Engineer with a passion for learning and creating efficient processes by partnering with cross-functional teams. Her innovative contributions were further demonstrated by securing three patents with another one on the way for 2023.

Lucretia Williams, Currently leading Ford Motor Company’s Accessibility project: Lucretia’s current role is Strategist and Planning Expert, where she directs choices for sustained growth. In her 20+ years as an established professional, she has grown into a design thinking champion with insatiable curiosity and passion towards understanding and delighting customers.

Julia Matos, Mach-e D&R engineer of front structures: As a Mach-E D&R Engineer of front structures, Julia keeps moving forward. From Energy and Fluid flow PhD to automotive engineer at Ford, she became a Pick-up Box expert acting on Ford Super Duty 2023/24 Programs and the Ford Ranger 2023 launch.

Cynthia Flanigan, Chief Engineer, Hardware Integration: Dr. Flanigan is Chief Engineer, Hardware Integration in Vehicle Hardware Engineering. She has been awarded eight U.S. patents and two international patents, has published over 35 external publications and enjoys focusing on fostering development and growth of women in the automotive industry.

Fernanda Medina, Hardware Integration Supervisor for Expedition and Navigator: Fernanda leads a cross-functional engineering team to guarantee that components are integrated and meet design requirements. Fernanda has been granted over 9 Patents in the United States, Germany, China and Russia. Most patents focus on improving customer experience while storing items in console. Ideas provide customers with more flexibility to store items based on their unique needs.
