In a LinkedIn post announcing his August road trip behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 Lightning, CEO Jim Farley called the effort “a new way to see America.” Not only did the journey offer him a chance to get out of the office and interact with Ford dealers, service staff and customers, but it also provided a firsthand experience of what it’s like to long-haul in a modern electric vehicle.
Over the course of his travels, Farley tried out hands-free driving with BlueCruise, got a better understanding of what it’s like to charge up on the road and even rubbed elbows with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson when the wrestling and Hollywood superstar stopped by to talk about his love of Ford trucks.
“My big takeaway is just that we’re in the first inning of this EV revolution and digital revolution with software,” Farley said. “And, it’s actually a human opportunity. It’s not about the cars or the technology. It’s about how to help people make the transition.”
