How Ford Volunteers Helped Feed Hundreds of Homeless People in Austria

Dec 06, 2023

VIENNA, Austria – Big-hearted Ford employees in Austria have been putting Care for Each Other into practice by cooking and serving meals for homeless people.

Three teams of five Ford volunteers recently provided “hearty lunches” for 300 people in need who are all clients at the Volkshilfe day centre in Vienna.

Established in 1947, Volkshilfe provides a safe space for homeless people and offers advice, an option to do laundry, pick up hygiene products, as well as a range of leisure activities and warm meals.

“It was a priceless experience,” said Ford volunteer Christian Wotypka. “We take with us numerous touching, but also quite humorous encounters with people who have been hit hard by strokes of fate - some of which are not even imaginable - as well as the realisation that you can give an enormous amount of joy and appreciation.”
