DUNTON, UK – Did you know that Ford has been an active supporter of the moustache movement “Movember” for 15 years now?
In that time more than 1,000 colleagues have joined Ford’s Movember Community by growing a moustache during the month of November, raising more £600,000 to help fund projects supporting research and making a difference in mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Matt Loynes, Ford Mental Health First Aider, has been growing a moustache for two months now, and is urging others to get involved, as he explains: “The Ford Movember Community know we have a way to go to stop men dying too young and is here to look under the hood when it comes to men's health.
“On a personal note, I want to make sure that everyone has the tools they need for them and the men in their lives to get were they are going, because we are on the journey together. Something even more evident for me after losing three men in my life to suicide in the last year. This is why I have been growing my Mo since September, for this campaign. Three months of growing for these three guys.”
Matt adds: “This year we are focussing on the message rather than the fundraising as we want to focus on the health and wellbeing on our colleagues and friends. We will be hosting a fireside chat around International Men’s Day later in the month where we will look at the important role women (or Mo Sisters) play as allies to the men in their lives. Movember is not just for the men but for anyone who wants to help the men in their lives live happier, healthier and longer lives.”
