Mainely Teeth | Maine is all smiles thanks to Pro Power Onboard

You might think F-150s and dental care are unrelated, but Mainely Teeth disagrees.

The Portland, Maine dental clinic's mission is to break down barriers to oral health care and provide access to quality, compassionate dental care for individuals, families and communities. Carrying out this work often means visiting remote locations to serve those who might not otherwise have access to care using Mainely Teeth’s mobile dental unit. Originally powered by a large generator in the bed of its tow vehicle, the mobile unit allowed Mainely Teeth dentists to serve 87 remote locations across the state as well as schools and communities where dental care is inaccessible to the population. There were challenges with reliable power generation and towing, so when it was time for an upgrade, the Mainely Teeth team looked to a Ford PowerBoost hybrid truck and the available Pro Power Onboard feature as a potential solution.

The full hybrid powertrain available in the F-150 lineup delivers an impressive 430 horsepower and 570 lb.-ft. of torque. Harnessing the combined efforts of gas and electric energy in a single powertrain, the Ford Hybrid 3.5L PowerBoost V6 engine delivers a maximum available 12,700 pounds towing. That’s plenty to efficiently haul the dental unit deep into the Maine countryside.

Because of their F-150 PowerBoost hybrid equipped with 7.2kW Pro Power Onboard, Mainely Teeth served over 2,000 children, schools, families, and veterans that were uninsured or underinsured in the state of Maine in 2022-2023 alone – with plans to continue increasing coverage and providing more access to quality, compassionate dental care to individuals, families, and communities.
