COLOGNE, Germany – Ford’s multi award-winning Puma has just been announced as the UK’s Best Car for New Drivers, according to a consumer vote at the sixth-annual Auto Trader New Car Awards, beating competing finalists, Audi A3 and the MG3.

Unlike other car awards which rely solely on editorial judging panels, the winners of the Auto Trader New Car Awards are determined by 156,500 genuine car owners who voted for 19 of this year’s 22 categories, making them true consumer champions.

Car owners who have bought, driven and lived with their new cars were asked to rate their cars according to a range of lifestyle factors.

Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “When it comes to the new driver market, the competition for the perfect first car is fierce. New motorists want space, comfort and a car that is easy to use, with lots of safety. The Ford Puma scored highly in areas such as comfort and safety whilst also being recognised for its durability and cost of servicing.

“We received some brilliant feedback from owners, who told us that the car itself was small but feels much bigger. They commented on the cabin, saying it is very light with a panoramic roof. Some even said that the park assist was superb.”

Consumers were asked to rate their cars across 16 different criteria, from reliability and performance to appearance and running costs. They were also asked about their overall satisfaction with their car and how likely they would be to recommend it to others.
