Just shy of Mustang’s 60th birthday, Ford is still finding ways for customers to customize their favorite pony car. Beginning Tuesday, they will be able to order new Mustangs with the car’s first-ever factory Matte Clear Film.
The optional film adds to Mustang’s legacy of customizability, which is reflected in the numerous options such as wheels and color choices available for the iconic pony car.
The film gives Mustang a satin-like finish and protects the car’s paint against things like harsh detergents used at car washes and road salt, as well as bird droppings and bug splatter. It is just one of the many, many ways customers can make their Mustang unique.
Matte Clear Film will be available on all Mustang coupe models and in all factory paint colors.
“Mustang has been about driving freedom and freedom of expression for 60 years, and our new Matte Clear Film provides a whole new way for customers to make Mustang their own,” said Laurie Transou, Mustang Chief Program Engineer.
The film will be available on Mustang convertible models beginning in the fourth quarter.
