Excitement builds as we near new Mustang launch

The secrecy shrouding the new Mustang is about to fall away as it makes its debut on Wednesday, Sept. 14 as part of the Detroit Auto Show.

Throughout the plant, we’ve had teams working on parts for the newest version and the Launch Team has been hard at work making sure all will run smoothly as we wait for the great reveal.

Model 650 is the all-new, seventh-generation Mustang. The sixth generation launched in 2005 so body changes are not a common occurrence for the sports car.

Woodhaven Stamping Plant opened in 1964 and some of its first products was parts for the first-generation 1965 Mustang, including its distinctive hood.

WSP Plant Manager Bruce Dudley said the plant has come full circle now with the Mustang.

“WSP is honored and proud to support Flat Rock Assembly Plant for the new 2023 Mustang,” Dudley said. “The first products that came from WSP in 1965 were Mustang and a continuation of the Mustang product line at WSP is exciting.”

The official debut is being called “The Stampede.” It will be broadcast live on Wednesday, Sept. 14 starting at 8 p.m. on all social channels, including Ford YouTube and the Ford Mustang Facebook Page. The debut will be held at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit.
