Between the direct donations and the ‘Spin to Win’ fundraiser, the plant again exceeded its fundraising target for the United Negro College Fund.
The donations totaled $3,868.50. The plant’s target was $2,500.
“I would like to thank the plant for their donations to help surpass the target,” said Troy Marks, MP&L manager who headed up the UNCF drive.
Ford Motor accepted the challenge of raising money for the 34th annual UNCF Detroit Walk for Education. Since UNCF was founded in 1944, it has raised more than $5 billion and helped graduate more than 500,000 students from college. In academic year 2020-21, Michigan students received $1.6 million from UNCF-managed scholarships that assisted them in getting to and through school.
