On August 27th, Ohio Assembly Plant welcomed the Ohio EPA. Attendance included Laurie Stevenson – Ohio EPA, Director; Heidi Griesmer – Ohio EPA, Deputy Director for Communications; Kurt Princic – Ohio EPA, Northeast District Office Chief; Dan Sowry – Ohio EPA, Assistant Chief of OCAPP; Dave Foulkes – Ohio EPA, OCAPP, Central Office; and Aaron Smith – Ohio EPA, Public Interest Center, Audio/Visual Production Specialist.
The team came to present OHAP’s E3 Award. At the 2019 Ohio EPA Sustainability Conference on April 17, OHAP received an Ohio EPA Encouraging Environmental Excellence Gold Level Award for 2018.
The morning began with a warm welcome from Jason Moore, Plant Manager. After which, Matt Mesaros, Environmental Engineer, showed a presentation, which highlighted:
- Considerable annual reductions in total waste-to-landfill
- Reduced water usage
- Energy efficiency improvement
- Waste Reduction
- Community outreach
As well as OHAP’s pilot projects:
- 3-Wet Paint Process
- Cooling Tower Performance using water saver technology
- System 2000 In-Situ Sludge Removal Process
Our guests from the EPA were then treated to a tour of the paint department, where they could see firsthand the 3-Wet paint process. They were incredible engaged and complementary throughout the day.
Unfortunately the weather prevented the planned flag raising, but Ohio Assembly Plant was presented with a flag as well as a plaque.
Congratulations, OHAP, with special kudos to the environmental team!
