UAW-Ford Employees Help Provide A New Home To Homeless Veteran
On January 27th, homeless veteran Torre Keith Harris received the keys to his new home. Torre, a former Marine who served in the special forces, was the 3rd recipient of a home thanks to Operation Victory, a coalition of organizations that join together to renovate vacant and dilapidated houses for homeless veterans.
UAW-Ford, together with over 50 other organizations, helped provide approximately 1,000 volunteer hours and $75,000 in materials and supplies to make this day happen. The Ramp Team, with Jeff Redden acting as general contractor, was instrumental in the home’s construction/renovation.
The Colour Guard, which kicked off the event, is comprised of both KTP and LAP employees and represents all branches of the military. Union Chair Todd Dunne was among the local dignitaries recognizing the tremendous efforts and hard work of everyone involved to help make Torre’s dream a reality.
