Shuler electrician, Bob Hajduk recently shared a major accomplishment his daughter achieved,

that has made him very proud. An employee for almost 28 years, his daughter, Gabrielle

(known as Gabby) recently graduated from The University of Illinois in Urbana. “ We come from

a Big 10 Family,” Bob Hajduk explained, “My daughter and I both went to U of I, and my wife

attended University of Iowa, where she played tennis.” Gabby, who received a degree in

journalism, always wanted to be a sportswriter.  While at  Illinois, she wrote for The Daily Illini,

the campus newspaper.  She started out covering women’s golf.  By her sophomore year she

was the sports editor.  One of Gabby’s highlights was an interview with The Fighting Illini’s Head

Football  Coach, Bret Bielema, and his family.

After graduation Gabby was offered  and accepted a job in communications from The Indianapolis

Star.  Just a few weeks ago she landed her dream job, writing for The Chicago Bears! The  Bears

organization offered her a job as a sportswriter.  Her first piece was on Doug Kramer, who was

recently drafted by the Bears, as a center.  He is also an Illini graduate.

Gabby was the recipient of scholarships throughout her education, and was awarded :

· William Clay Ford Jr. Scholarship

· UAW-Ford Rouge Powerhouse Memorial Scholarship

· UAW – Local 588 Scholarship

“Every little bit helps.  It’s good the company offers these, that anyone can apply, and that our people get them,” Hajduk shared.  You can find Gabby’s stories at : chicagobears.com
