During these unprecedented times, Lincoln is leveraging and shifting resources and services to lend a helping hand to the community – particularly, those who need it most.
The Lincoln Personal Driver pilot program, a transportation service that allows clients to hire professional drivers by the hour using some of the brand’s newest vehicles, is being utilized in collaboration with the Ford Fund to help those in need during these trying times.
Lincoln is leveraging the program’s fleet of vehicles and professional drivers to help deliver goods such as food, water and supplies when needed.
The team started by delivering 30 boxes of food from Focus Hope in Detroit to Walls Manor, a senior living center in Ypsilanti. Residents were able to retrieve the boxes outside, ten at a time.
“This was a rich experience, heartwarming experience, and I was glad to be a part of it,” said Seth Tenkorang, Lincoln Personal Driver. “The smile on the residents faces says it all.”
Drivers delivered food to seniors in a Detroit neighborhood who can no longer travel to the Ford Resource and Engagement Center, leaving the food on the front porches of homes to maintain a safe and secure distance from the elderly.
“As a Lincoln Personal Driver, delivering groceries from the Resource and Engagement Center to those who need it during this difficult time makes a lot of sense,” said Jonathan Moore, Lincoln Personal Driver. “This was a great opportunity and I am glad to be of service to our local community.”
Many local organizations are working around the clock to provide essentials to the local community in need, such as the Pope Francis Center – helping the homeless population get meals while maintaining social distance. Lincoln is committed to helping where possible, as drivers are delivering donated to-go food containers from Sodexo to the center and to restaurants in Corktown, Detroit.
In collaboration with the Ford Fund, the team will continue to work closely together and identify local communities and organizations that could use a little more help in these challenging times.
