TBT: Ford Focus Becomes Best-Selling Global Nameplate for 2012

Ford Focus led a trio of Ford nameplates in the top 10 in global sales in 2012.

Ford had three of the top 10 best-selling nameplates in the world in 2012, led by the Ford Focus.

With sales up 40 percent in the U.S. and 51 percent in China, Focus became the world’s best-selling passenger car with more than one million vehicles sold.

Ford F-Series was third in global sales with more than 785,000 vehicles sold, making it the world’s No. 1 selling pickup truck.

The Ford Fiesta was the best-selling subcompact car in the world in 2012, with sales of Fiesta and Focus totaling more than 1.7 million combined.

The sales numbers, taken from Polk global market new registration data, were announced April 9, 2013.
