COLOGNE, Germany – Ford of Europe’s strong sales in May were boosted by growing demand for the company’s cars and commercial vehicles in Germany. In a strong overall industry with more than 354,000 car and commercial vehicle registrations, Ford registered 12.4 per cent more vehicles in Germany last month than in the previous month.
With 27,500 registrations, Ford increased sales passenger cars and light commercial vehicles by more than 4,800 units; This represents an increase of more than 21 per cent compared to May 2016. Ford’s combined passenger car and commercial vehicle market share was 7.8 per cent.

Last month, Ford increased sales of passenger cars by more than 4,400 units to about 23,600 units, up more than 23 per cent compared to the previous year. Ford’s share of the passenger car market was 7.3 per cent.
Ford’s light commercial vehicles sales totaled 3,900 registrations, up 440 compared with May 2016. This corresponds to a growth of almost 13 per cent and gave Ford a 12.8 per cent market share. The Ford Fiesta (+ 30 per cent), B-MAX (+ 71 per cent) and the large SUV Edge (+ 234 per cent) were particularly popular with customers.
