Thor, the God of Thunder, and the Ford F-150 Lightning have a lot in common. Both have superhuman strength, speed, agility, and durability. And this summer, Lightning meets Thunder. Ford has partnered with Marvel Studios for the Summer Supercharged Ford Drive-In series. The series launched with an early screening of Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie is in wide release as of July 8, and it's the story of Thor's quest for inner peace getting interrupted by the very unpleasant Gorr the God Butcher.
To kick-off the premiere of the movie, the F-150 Lightning made its red-carpet debut alongside the Thor: Love and Thunder cast. At the Coyote Drive-In in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Ford welcomed nearly 1,000 members of the DFW community, Marvel fans, and Ford enthusiasts and owners for a special viewing experience. Coyote Drive-In is a one-of-a-kind urban drive-in movie theater located in the heart of Fort Worth merging the historical drive-in experience with the future.
The F-150 Lightning was on full display and Pro Power Onboard was demonstrated by powering the arcade, marquee and a local band’s performance. Guests enjoyed classic drive-in culture and got to see the strength of the Lightning’s battery firsthand.
Check out what some of our attendees had to say:
- "… It’s so cool that the Lightning powered the event..." – Cory Fourniquet, GT Garage Talk
- "I didn't even realize Ford had an electric truck. Cool technology…” – Guest
- “I really like seeing all this in action. It was cool to experience this. I was really surprised by what Lightning can do. Guests were really impressed with the truck.” – Dennis Simmons, Ford Intern and Howard University student
This marks the first of three drive-in experiences Ford is bringing to local communities this summer via its Summer Supercharged – Ford Drive-In program. Additional events in July and August across the U.S. will feature the Maverick, Bronco and Bronco Sport.
